ALIGN
ALIGN, the Alliance for Local Investment Growth Network, is a regional coalition that was established in December 2025 to focus on helping communities in the Mon Valley and Pittsburgh’s eastern suburbs grow stronger, attract new investment, and build a future that works for the people who live and work here.
By connecting local governments, business and workforce leaders, and community organizations, ALIGN assists with turning shared ideas into action. Together, the network is working to create more opportunities for residents, support local businesses, and prepare our region for long-term growth.
Why was ALIGN formed?
The Mon Valley and Pittsburgh’s eastern suburbs are well-positioned to attract investment and become a hub for clean technology growth. Additionally, Allegheny County has existing industries needed to support this growth, giving the region a strong foundation to build on. Research points to three key opportunity areas:
- Battery manufacturing
- Solar component manufacturing
- Green buildings
While the region has strong assets to build on, fully benefiting from these opportunities will also require addressing key challenges related to housing, transportation, workforce development, and childcare.
ALIGN’s partners understand that meaningful transformation does not happen by chance – it is driven by clear priorities and coordinated efforts. Lasting progress is achieved when leaders align around a shared vision and take deliberate steps to prepare the region for next-generation industries to thrive and benefit the residents.
ALIGN was formed to bring local governments, economic development organizations, workforce partners, businesses, and community groups together to focus on those shared goals and collective needs.
What is ALIGN Working Toward?
ALIGN is working to create a more unified, investment-ready region where growth benefits the people who live and work in these communities.
Members are committed to building on local strengths, aligning strategies across municipalities, and supporting one another to pursue growth that is grounded in community needs. By working together as one region, ALIGN aims to ensure that new opportunities translate into long-term economic stability and improved quality of life.
